Choose

People say they don't believe in God cause they don't see Him. How come if He exists, there is so much evil in the world? All sorts of questions, to which they have no answers, so they choose the easy way (easy, by the way, is almost never the right choice): they decide God doesn't exist for them. I say it's the easy way, cause if you believe that, it makes you accountable to no one. You can live whatever kind of life you want, be your own master, and that's exactly what people think they want. What they don't know is that it's impossible. You see, God exists. But so does Satan. And they both want us for themselves. God, to save us, to bring us home; Satan, to destroy our souls, so that we can't go home. Why does he want that? Because Satan himself was thrown away from Heaven, and this is how he wants to get revenge. Stealing us from the Son of God.

So, why is there so much evil in the world, if God exists, and He is love? Because of the Enemy. People who don't believe in God, don't believe he exists either. They say humans are prone to evil. They can do it very well by themselves. Therefore, Satan would be redundant. Humans do what they want. But here lays a well-crafted lie. You see, Satan doesn't need us to believe he exists. Much rather, he wants us to believe we are our own rulers. That sounds more attractive for the human ear. Who would want to be a slave of Satan? Maybe some. But not most. Who wants to do whatever he likes? Pretty much everyone.

But, you know what? It doesn't work like that. We can't be independent. As much as we'd like to, we can't. Sin is keeping us tied. And the only salvation is to become slaves of God. Maybe you'd like a third option. But let me tell you, slaves of God and slaves of sin don't have anything in common. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23

Think of your soul as a house. Jesus is eager to be with you. More than anything, He wants you to open the door to your heart, and let Him in. But He gives you the freedom to choose, and this is how He approaches you: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." - Revelation 3:20.

On the other hand, Satan wants to get a hold of you too. But his approach is quite the opposite. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." - 1 Peter 5:8

If you happen to open a window and leave the room, he will sneak into you house. If you crack the door open, he will push and push, until he breaks in. He comes at your door and at all your windows and tries to trick you. He roars. He makes noises. He won't leave you alone. If you let him in by curiosity, he'll insist on staying inside, even if you try to make him leave. You see, he is very sneaky. He will use any method, no matter how dirty, to come into your house. And when he comes in, he makes a mess, he steals your joy. And his end goal is to destroy you. Maybe not on this Earth. Maybe he even helps you make money, get wealthy. Cause as long as you're busy, you won't even hear the knock of Jesus on your door. What Satan wants is your soul. He doesn't mind you living in earthly comfort for a few years, as long as you won't live forever, in heavenly glory.

My call to you is to stay still, stop for a moment. Hear the knock of Jesus on your heart's door, and open it wide. Then, never let Jesus go. Hold on to Him, and He will help you resist the attacks of the lion that's circling your home. He knows how to keep you safe.

Don't long for a few years of momentary pleasure, comfort and self-indulgent living. In the end, you'll realize you didn't find what you were looking for. Cause it's not there. "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind." - Ecclesiastes 1:14. This is what the wisest man that has ever lived said. We'd better believe him, and not try it ourselves. Cause what is worse than saying: "I have wasted my life. I've searched everywhere, but I've found nothing" on your death bed?

Let's take the road Paul went on instead, so that at the end, we would be able to say, like him, these wonderful words: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing" - 2 Timothy 4:7, 8

Choose well who you let come into your heart.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it spring the issues of life." - Proverbs 4:23
